Choir School Board President Abigail Cudabac shared this message with our community today, Monday, November 16, 2020:

Trissy Lomax, a musician and arts patron, who with Ben Outen and Kay Johnson founded The Choir School at St. Peter’s in September 1993, died last month. This is a tremendous loss for our community. Trissy’s encouragement and bold vision are why The Choir School has become Charlotte’s premier music education program. As an artist, she knew the incredible value of an arts education, and was herself a singer, painter, and producer. She was a connector who gave a voice to The Choir School in the Charlotte community and became an essential personality at our events. She remained a consistent, enthusiastic advocate for the program and an example of the dedication necessary to sustain a small organization like ours.

Trissy was committed to our long-term success and her gifts of talent and resources came without hesitation. Among a lifetime of support, in celebration of their sixtieth wedding anniversary in 2015, her husband Henry Clyde Lomax, established in her honor the Anne-Tristram Lomax fund of The Choir School’s permanent endowment. The Board of Directors and staff of The Choir School join all whose lives were enriched by this extraordinary person in offering our sympathies to her children, Henry, Jr. and his wife Donna, and Carol Fortenberry and her husband Mark, and her grandchildren. We will deeply miss Trissy. Please keep her, and all that mourn her passing, in your thoughts. Thank you for being a part of our community and for your continued support of The Choir School.
